Initially focusing on contemporary hand beaded linen textiles, Katundu’s signature collection now includes organic interior pieces, wall arts and unique bespoke lighting items. To minimize our impact on the environment, our new range focuses on locally sourced, recycled and natural materials.
The use of tumbled recycled glass, locally sourced clay beads, grey seeds or baobab string, old re-used copper and wire, and other scrap materials in combination with hand work gives each Katundu product their unique, African and artisanal character. Our interior items are sure to become conversational pieces in your home.
Our hand-beaded textile range was our first real design collection and still represents everything that Katundu is about.
Each bead is hand-stitched onto high-quality South-African linen, and range from ostrich egg-shell beads to cast bronze pendants, from coconut shells to sea shells.
This range includes cushion covers, table runners and bed throws, all of which are available in a variety of sizes and colours. The perfect way to make any sofa special, any table terrific, and any bed seem positively beachy.
Our lighting range is 100% handmade, so each piece is a unique statement-piece for your home. We weld the frames, break and tumble old glass bottles, hand-roll clay beads and punch copper disks out of copper geezers, and you end up with a magnificent chandelier (or lamp) collecting compliments in your kitchen.
Our range currently includes tumbled glass, grey seeds, copper disks and strips, bicycle cogs and clay beads.
Our workshop is a vibrant design space where we create interiors for several lodges and hotels. Besides textiles and lighting we supply an extensive variety of interiors. These include wall-dividers, wall art, coffee and side tables, mirror and picture frames, and laundry baskets and mats.
The products in this range are mostly made from recycled or sustainable natural materials such as;
metal scrap, local recycled wood and maize / baobab string.
